Dr. C.V. Raman University (DCVRU) is Chhattisgarh's first private university, which was established on November 3, 2006 and inaugurated on October 14, 2007. The university was established under Niji Vishwavidyalaya Adhiniyam 2005. The emblem of the university has a globe on which its acronym is written. It is crested by an upward looking angular stroke with a circle above. Its motto in Sanskrit ‘विद्या परं दैवतम्’ meaning ‘Knowledge is the Supreme God’ is written on a slab placed below the circular emblem. The globe represents education, knowledge, influence, timelessness, global unity and interconnectedness; the upward stoke denotes progressive movement and dynamism; the circle the stakeholder; and the colour blue denotes serenity, calmness, trust, spirituality, calmness, wisdom, freedom, openness, intelligence and loyalty.
