Assam Rajiv Gandhi University of Cooperative Management (ARGUCOM) is the first cooperative management university in the country established by the Assam Rajiv Gandhi University of Cooperative Management Act, 2010 and recognised by UGC vide its letter No. F.9-21/2011 (CPP-1/PU) dated February 27, 2012. The emblem of the university has a hexagon with a rising sun in orange background, white open book and green base, which is ensconced by another hexagon of six hands holding symbolising cooperation and cooperative strength. The acronym of the university is written on the white book. This is supported by a pair of laurels. The name of the university is written on a bluish green banner and its year of establishment is written on the counter of the laurels. The motto of the university ‘Building Capacity for Economic Empowerment’ is written on a yellow banner at the bottom. The colours inside the hexagon represent the tricolour of the nation; the shape of hexagon is considered the strongest among the polygons and it symbolises the strength of cooperation; the laurels denote ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication and the sun denotes life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity.
