CHAUDHARY RANBIR SINGH UNIVERSITY

Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University (CSRU) was established by Act 28 of 2014 on July 24, 2014 of the State Legislature of Haryana. The circular emblem in the tones of yellow and blue holds the motifs of an open with ‘CRSU’ written on, supporting a rising sun and supported by its year of its establishment. An older hand holding a younger hand for support is placed over the book. These are ensconced by twenty human motifs holding hands and forming a chain and its name. These are circumscribed by a border on which the name of and place of the university is inscribed in Devanagari supported by a pair of torches. At the bottom of the circle, on a banner its motto in Sanskrit ‘उत्तिष्ठत जाग्रत प्राप्य वरान्निबोधत’ (Mantra 14, Valli 3, Chapter 1, Kathopanishad) meaning ‘Arise, Awake and Stop Not till the Goal is Reached’ is inscribed. The open book symbolises education, knowledge and wisdom; the rising sun means light, universal prosperity and path for growth; the helping hand is of the teacher and the the younger hand is of the student; the humans holding hands symbolise unity and collective strength and the torches symbolise enlightenment, hope, life, truth and the regenerative power.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.

WESTERN AIR COMMAND The origin of the Western Air Command can be traced back to the nascent years of independent India, when the various formations of the Air Force were organised into two groups. On July 22, 1949 the No 1 Operational Group was re-designated as the Operational Command. The Command assumed its present name of Headquarters Western Air Command on June 10, 1963. Headquarters Western Air Command, located at Subroto Park, New Delhi, has over 200 bases placed under its command and has been involved in all major operations in India since independence. Due to its geographical location the Command has always been the hub-centre of all operational activities during any operation. Mandal University was established on January 10, 1992 and is named after Bhupendra Narayan Mandal, who was a freedom fighter. The red circular emblem of the university has a circle housing the motifs of a banyan tree, an open book, a wheat plant with heads and a pair of swans in its four quadrants. These are ensconced in a border with red outlines. The border is inscribed with its motto in Sanskrit ‘सा विद्या या विमुक्तये’ (Rishi Parāśara, Viṣṇu Purāṇa ) meaning ‘Knowledge is One that Liberates’ and its name in Devanagari.
