BHARATHIAR UNIVERSITY

The Bharathiar University was established at Coimbatore by the Government of Tamilnadu in February 1982 under the Bharathiar University Act, 1981 (Act 1 of 1982). The erstwhile Postgraduate Centre of the University of Madras formed the core of the Bharathiar University, which was functioning at Coimbatore before 1982. University Grants Commission (UGC) recognized the university in 1985 for grants. The emblem of the university has a portrait of Tamil poet Bharathiyar and motifs of fish representing the kingdom of Pandyas, tiger representing the kingdom of Cholas, five books denoting knowledge,education and wisdom and a bow and arrow symbolising the kingdom of Cheras. These are ensconced in an orange gear wheel, which bears the name and place of the university in Tamil and English. The gear wheel is supported by a blue banner on which the motto of the university is inscribed in Tamil ‘பல கல்வி தந்து இந்தப்பாரை உயர்த்திட வேண்டும்’ and English ‘Educate to Elevate’. The gear wheel symbolises  interconnectedness; efficiency and precision; progress and advancement; synchronisation and timing and order and structure.

UTTARANCHAL UNIVERSITY Uttaranchal University has come a long way since its inception in 2013 providing world class multidisciplinary education. The university's mission is to inculcate the essence of the Sanskrit Shloka ‘पदं हि सर्वत्र गुणैर्निधीयते’ meaning ‘Good Qualities Put their Footprints Everywhere’. The logo of the university has a blue and green abstract pictorial of ‘U’ and on its right a wordmark of its name in capitals thin serif letters with smooth transition of strokes. The counter of the ‘U’ is filled blue and a stroke of blue and green flows across diagonally from left to right top. This is further cut out by another ‘U’ at the top right corner. The colour blue represents serenity, calmness, trust, spirituality, calmness, wisdom, freedom, openness, intelligence and loyalty and the colour green denotes life, production, fertility, agriculture, environment and nature. The logo is modern, trendy and attractive.

SATYAM COLLEGE OF EDUCATION, KATHUA (SCE KATHUA) The emblem of Satyam College of Education, Kathua (SCE Kathua) features a blue circle housing the motifs of a weighing scale, two figures holding hands and a mortarboard hat inscribed with the initials of the college ‘SCE’. The blue circle is circumscribed by the name and place of the college in red. The weighing scales with the twin balance pans symbolise equity, fairness, objectivity and truth; the mortarboard hat or Oxford hat denotes educational achievement, equality, tradition and rights of passage; the figures holding hands directly atop the scale beam highlights unity, collaboration, teamwork and community integration.

GOVERNMENT GANDHI MEMORIAL SCIENCE COLLEGE, JAMMU (GGM SC JAMMU) The emblem of Government Gandhi Memorial Science College, Jammu (GGM SC Jammu) features three orange and cyan feathers held by a royal coronet with a scroll inscribed with the motto ‘Ich Dien’ of the college in Old German, which translates to ‘I Serve’. The name of the college surmounts the motifs and its year of establishment is written at the bottom. The college was originally established in 1905 as the Prince of Wales College to commemorate the visit of the Prince of Wales (later King George V) to Jammu.
